Rev. Gordon Cook, Jr., Pastor (retired, effective 12.31.2024)
Gordon has served at Living Hope Church since 1996. He is married to Pam, a retired hospice nurse, and they have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren. They live in Brunswick. Gordon enjoys kayaking and photography; sometimes at the same time!
Rev. John Kramer, Teacher
John has served as a Teacher at Living Hope Church since 2014 after serving as an ruling elder. He works as a hospital chaplain at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. He and his wife, Bonnie, have 3 adult children and 1 grandchild and they live in Augusta.
Ruling Elders:
Rick Stocker - Elder Emeritus
Rick has been a ruling elder at Living Hope Church since 1994, becoming Elder Emeritus when he retired to Florida in 2023 where he lives with his wife, Marianne, and continues his love/hate relationship with golf! Rick has 3 adult children and 3 grandchildren.
Logan Murray
Logan has been a ruling elder at Living Hope Church since 1999. He and his wife, Mary, live in Freeport and have 3 sons, Joshua (22), Caleb (18), and Seth (16), chickens, goat, and a Saharan uromastyx. Logan is a pediatric hospitalist and complex care physician at MaineHealth in Portland. Mary is Office Administrator at Greater Portland Christian School.
Phil Moran
Phil serves as a ruling elder at Living Hope after many years of service as a Deacon. Phil is retired from the building products industry. He lives in Richmond with his wife Judy. They have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren. Phil and Judy love to tend their gardens and enjoy travel, especially by train when possible!
Mike Brumet
Mike and his wife Lenore live in Orr’s Island. A retired college professor, Mike also serves as a volunteer firefighter in Orr’s Island. He directs our church’s annual Vacation Bible School program and also serves as church treasurer. 4 of his local gradchildren frequently accompany him to church services.
Deacons:
Jamie Lowell
Jamie is a 6th generation independent boat builder. He and his wife, Ruth, live in Pownal and have 4 children, Nathanael (18), Gwen (15), and 9-year-old twins, Gabriel and Anneliese. Ruth works in graphic design and website development.
Doug Matthews
Doug is our newest deacon, ordained in June, 2024. He lives in Harpswell and works in the shipbuilding industry at Bath Iron Works, Bath, ME. He has a daughter, Margarita (15). Doug can often be found at his cabin on Little Yarmouth Island where he hosts an annual church cookout!
